On Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's interview with a CBS reporter was broadcast. When asked about the situation on the front, he said: Ukraine managed to stabilize the situation and it is better than in previous months, when the army was struggling with a large weapons deficit.

– It was very difficult to fight the enemy in Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Lysychansk, Soledar and so on – said the Ukrainian leader. – We have stabilized the situation. Despite the improvement of the situation, the president warned that Ukrainian troops will not be able to hold out for long, if they do not gain US support. He added that help is needed as soon as possible – especially since the army expects a large Russian offensive at the turn of May and June.

– Before that, we must not only prepare, not only stabilize the situation, because our partners are sometimes happy that we have stabilized the situation. But I say that we need help now – Zelensky said. – We have almost no artillery anymore – he added and emphasized that what is most needed are air defense missiles and artillery ammunition.

Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Russia is “100 percent” taking advantage of the break in arms supplies from the US, resulting from the months-long deadlock in Congress regarding the aid package for Ukraine. The conflict in the Gaza Strip was also said to have worsened the country's situation.

– We understand that this is a humanitarian disaster. Of course, it diverts attention from Ukraine in the information field. It's a fact, and when your region loses attention to other regions (…), it's obvious that this is good for Russia – he said.

Attack in Moscow. Zelensky on the Russians' allegations

According to Zelensky, Vladimir Putin takes advantage of every distraction and he tries to play to his own advantage with every event.
