Prosecutors from Pinellas County, Florida, will seek the death penalty for Oscar Solis, 30, accused of killing a food delivery man and dismembering his corpse, the Tampa Bay Times reported. “I don’t understand how you can be such a bad person,” the prosecutor said.
Case handler Bryan Sarabia of the local state’s attorney’s office decided to seek the death penalty for Solis. He made the decision after discussions with his boss, State Attorney Bruce Bartlett, the Tampa Bay Times reported on May 23. The newspaper also quoted on its website Barlett’s statement about the accused: – I have never seen anything like this before. I don’t understand how someone can be so evil.
In a notice of intent to seek the death penalty, cited by the Tampa Bay Times, prosecutors stressed the “particularly heinous, monstrous and cruel” nature of the killing. Barlett, according to the daily, also drew attention to the rich criminal record of the 30-year-old, including knife attack on a fellow inmate during a previous sentence.

Randall Cooke, 50, a food delivery man for a popular chain, went missing on April 19 in Holiday, Florida. CBS News, citing information from the Pasco County police, explained that Cooke was only supposed to complete one order that day and return home. However, several hours passed and he did not appear, there was no contact with him. Several hours later, his wife reported him missing. Two days later, investigators determined that the recipient of Cooke’s last shipment was a 30-year-old man oscar Solis and appeared at the address indicated in the order. On backyard camera footage, officers saw Solis and an unidentified person carrying garbage bags outside on the day the supplier went missing. Bags were also found in the house. They contained dismembered human remains, later identified as those of a missing supplier. His car was parked nearby, inside the vehicle police discovered m.in. bloody carpets and an employee card belonging to Solis.
The 30-year-old was arrested on April 24. The next day, the police reported that the man was charged with murder, concealment of corpses and theft. From the investigations so far, it appears that the killer was not motivated by any particular motive. There is no indication that Solis had any previous contact with his victim
