USA. Duda-Trump meeting. The president in a conversation with a reporter of “Fakty” TVN about the meeting with Donald Trump

President Andrzej Duda, who is visiting the USA, gave an interview to the correspondent of “Fakty” TVN, Marcin Wrona. – First of all, I am very happy that Polish-American relations are flourishing, you can safely say so – he said.

– If we take into account that a month ago I was in Congress and the White House at the invitation of President Joe Biden – we talked there, we conducted official interstate talks – yesterday I was invited by the former president of the United States, with whom I had been conducting Polish-American affairs for four years, President Donald Trump, he continued.

As he said, “I can confidently say that Polish-American relations at the level of authorities and influential people involved in these matters are developing excellently.” – We are currently seeing the effects of this, including plans to build a nuclear power plant using American technology from Westinghouse in Poland, as well as weapons supplies from the United States and F-35 fighters, which will soon be handed over to Polish pilots. These are facts that have been the achievements of recent years, he added.

The president also talked about his own meeting with Donald Trump. – It was a meeting at the invitation of President Donald Trump, a friendly meeting, because it took place in his private apartment in Trump Tower. It was very nice and it was a very nice conversation, but of course the president asked me about the situation in our part of the world, how I perceive the situation in Ukraine as a neighbor, as one who sees from close, who has nine years of presidential experience, who has been there many times in Ukraine – he said.

– And I actually conveyed this report to the president, as I see it. And of course, absolutely, suggestions that American aid for Ukraine is extremely needed here. Support, whatever form it takes, is crucial today, because the truth is, no one can help Ukraine like the United States can, Andrzej Duda continued.

The president was also asked whether he was not afraid that the meeting would be used by Trump in the election campaign. – If Polish-American relations develop well, if we become more and more secure, this has been happening over the last few years, also thanks to the work of successive US presidents, starting with President Barack Obama, with whom I started working in 2015, through Donald Trump , with whom I worked for 4 years, now with President Joe Biden, if these relations get better and better, I have nothing to worry about – he replied.

Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson announced that he was sticking to his plan introducing bills to the House regarding aid funds for Ukraine, Israel and the countries of the Indo-Pacific region. The fourth project will concern funds to “counter Russia, China and Iran.” Johnson said that votes on this matter would take place on Saturday evening.

During his March visit to the USA Andrzej Duda talked to Johnson. – It was a very important conversation, the one a month ago in the House of Representatives, both with Speaker Mike Johnson, as well as with the representative of the minority in the House of Representatives, i.e. with the representative of the Democrats, where I described the situation in Ukraine in detail – emphasized the Polish president now in interview with Marcin Wrona.

– How much this help is needed by the defenders of Ukraine, as well as what the consequences will be if we allow Russian imperialism to win, if we allow Russian imperialism to realize its ambitions, because I said: the historical experience of the First and Second World Wars shows that the effect of unrestrained imperialism in Europe is such that then the United States has to intervene and American soldiers die. So maybe it's better now to just give money, even if it's American taxpayers' money, but to settle this matter with money, since the defenders of Ukraine are ready to defend their homeland, they just need support, he added.
