A 75-year-old from Great Britain ignored the bans on entering the border road and taking photos. He decided to see the Polish-Russian border up close. Border guards noticed him. The man was fined.
The incident took place on Wednesday (April 17). According to the Warmian-Masurian Border Guard Unit, a British couple came to Poland and decided to see the Polish-Russian border up close.

– Border Guard cameras recorded a person staying on the border road. A 75-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman came from Great Britain and decided to see the Polish-Russian border up close. The man ignored information boards and state border markings and entered the border road to take photos, said Mirosława Aleksandrowicz from the Warmian-Masurian Border Guard Unit.
Fines for the Briton and the appeal of the guards
Officers from the Dubeninki station fined the Briton two fines – PLN 500 for entering the border road and PLN 100 for taking photos.
– We appeal to pay attention to information boards and state border markings during tourist trips, mushroom picking, hunting or walking near the state border. We warn against criminal consequences if you enter the border road. Such behavior constitutes punishable acts specified in the Code of Petty Offenses and is punishable by a fine of up to PLN 500 – recalled Mirosława Aleksandrowicz.
