100 years ago, one of the world’s largest producers and distributors of film and television productions, Warner Bros. was founded. As part of the jubilee celebrations, “film classics” produced by this production company were shown at the Norblin Factory in Warsaw. Ewelina Witenberg was there.

Without Warner Bros. there would be no movies like Casablanca, The Shining, The Matrix or Lord of the Rings. The legendary label celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, and this is a good opportunity to remind you that it was created by immigrants from Poland.

At the end of the 19th century, the Warners moved from the village of Krasnosielc in Mazovia to America. There, they tried to support themselves in various ways – they repaired shoes, sold leather, worked in circuses and amusement parks, until one of the brothers came up with the idea to buy a projector. The brothers started showing movies to people, then shooting them and selling them to other movie theaters.

Small an idea that began to germinate in people’s heads grew into something so spectacular that the whole world knows about. These people invited millions, if not billions of people to their productions with their idea. This is a custom story Hollywood – said actor Krystian Pesta, a participant in Thursday’s gala of the 100th anniversary of Warner Bros., which took place in Warsaw’s Norblin Factory.

– Two brothers were mainly involved in this business. It was very important for them to check what viewers like, said actress Paulina Gałązka.

This studio Warner Bros. was behind breaking the sound barrier in the cinema and they showed “The Jazz Singer”, which is the first film in which you could hear dialogues spoken by actors.

During World War I, they made films used to train American soldiers, and later they warned against Nazism and created the first animation that compromised Hitler as a leader. It is a label that has allowed artists such as Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan and Clint Eastwood to fulfill their artistic dreams. Their film portfolio includes both epic superproductions and comic book adaptations or captivating detective stories, as well as terrifying horrors and beautiful, touching love stories.
