Warsaw. A man from Ukraine was lying on the bus

The driver of bus line 176 noticed a passenger lying in the bus. Concerned, he called the city guards. A man from Ukraine had a broken nose, a bloody head and serious hand injuries. He didn't want to call an ambulance because he was afraid of the costs.

The incident took place on May 4, a quarter of an hour before 6 p.m. The driver of a bus going to Bródno called the city police. He reported that a man was lying in the vehicle.

The officers arrived at the scene and boarded the bus at the Bródno metro station. As they described, the man was lying on a raised platform at the back of the vehicle and his head was hanging from the step. When one of the guards leaned over the lying man, he noticed that he had blood all over his face, wounds on the back of his head and a broken nose.

– There was no smell of alcohol on the injured person's breath. We helped him to the bus stop and sat him on a bench. There we examined the head. It turned out to have bleeding wounds and blood clots. The man also had a broken nose. He turned out to be a 47-year-old Ukrainian. He was weakened. He assumed that he might have suffered injuries on a construction site, but he did not remember the exact circumstances of their occurrence – said junior inspector Karolina Tomaszewska, who, together with junior inspector Mariusz WysokiÅ„ski, took care of the injured person, quoted in the release.

He didn't want to call an ambulance, he was afraid of the costs

City guards reported that the man initially did not want them to call an ambulance, fearing the costs of medical care. However, the officers explained to him that this help would be free of charge.

While waiting for the rescuers to arrive, the officers treated the wounds on the man's head and stopped the bleeding. They also secured a swollen forearm that appeared to be broken.

The ambulance staff stated that the 47-year-old required hospital treatment. Due to the unclear circumstances of the man's injuries, the guards also notified the police about the case.
