Mokotów police stopped a driver who – as they put it – “pretended to be an owl” and was driving along busy streets with his lights off. During the inspection, it turned out that he did not have a driving license and was wanted. The smell of drugs emanating from the car did not improve the already bad situation of the 39-year-old.

Police officers from Mokotów, performing routine patrol activities, noticed a Mercedes driving along Malczewski Street and Puławska Street.

Lights off and a suspicious smell coming from the car

– The driver was driving a car in the middle of the night with the dipped headlights off. It seemed to him that if he did not turn on the lights, he would pass unnoticed, avoiding police control, or he simply could not turn them on – because, as it turned out, he did not have a driving license – said Deputy Commissioner Ewa KoÅ‚dys from the Warsaw District Police Headquarters in a statement. The officers followed the car. During the inspection, it turned out that the driver was a 39-year-old man wanted by law enforcement authorities. He stated that he did not have any prohibited substances on him. However, there was an intense odor coming from inside the car, which indicated that the driver may not be telling the truth.

Over 200 grams of drugs and a telescopic baton

– The officers found a significant amount of narcotic substances in his possession, including dried plants, MDMA, amphetamine and 4-CMC, with a total net weight of over 200 grams. Drugs are not everything. The young man also had with him items that should not be taken for a car ride in the middle of the night, KoÅ‚dys said, adding that they were: an object that looked like a gun and a telescopic baton.
