On Sunday, May 5, the “Korzeniowski Warsaw Race Walking Cup” athletics meeting will be held. The competition will take place around the Grand Theater – National Opera and PiĆsudski Square.
The meeting will be the official Polish championship in sports walking for women and men over a distance of 20 kilometers. The competition will take place in the historic heart of the capital, around the Grand Theater – National Opera and PiĆsudski Square. The competitors will start from Teatralny Square, then go through Wierzbowa Street, through PiĆsudskiego Square, turn around at KrĂłlewska Street and go back through PiĆsudskiego Square, Focha and Moliera Streets. On the same route, apart from experienced athletes, there will also be amateurs who will be able to try their hand at mass marching.
Warsaw is co-organizing this event for the third time.
To prepare for the event at Teatralny Square, it was closed to parking. We will not leave the car there from Saturday to Monday, May 6, until 6 a.m.
There will be numerous changes on the roads on Sunday
The competition will take place on Sunday, May 5, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. During this time, the streets along and adjacent to the competition route will be closed to traffic. You will only be able to drive straight through Senatorska Street through Teatralny Square, and Fredry and NiecaĆa streets will lose their connection with Wierzbowa. Two traffic directions will be introduced on Canaletta to enable departure from NiecaĆa.
Coming from Plac MaĆachowskiego, drivers will turn onto KrĂłlewska only towards MarszaĆkowska. In the opposite direction from KrĂłlewska Street, signs will tell you to go right to MaĆachowskiego Square.
Drivers leaving Tokarzewskiego-Karaszewicza and OssoliĆskich streets will have to turn left and use a separate lane (“against traffic”) to reach KrĂłlewska street. They will also come back this way.
TrÄbacka Street will not have a connection with Moliera – you can exit via Kozia, so two directions of traffic will be introduced here.
“During the competition, the following buses will be on detours: 111, 116, 128, 175, 178, 180 and 503” – informed the Municipal Transport Authority.
Line buses 111 In both directions they will go straight through Bankowy Square and then along MarszaĆkowska Street.
On the other hand: 116, 180 and 503 driving south of Warsaw, after KrasiĆskich Square, they will turn right into KapucyĆska Street, and then along “SolidarnoĆci” Avenue, Bankowy Square and MarszaĆkowska Street they will reach the Dmowski Roundabout and their regular routes. On the way back, after the intersection with KrĂłlewska Street, they will turn right from MarszaĆkowska into Senatorska and from there they will reach Miodowa.
Similarly, a detour will be marked for 178. Towards Ursus, buses of this line will go along KapucyĆska Street, Aleja “SolidarnoĆci”, Plac Bankowy and MarszaĆkowska, and towards Konwiktorska they will turn left at the intersection of ĆwiÄtokrzyska and MarszaĆkowska, and then right into Senatorska.
Line passengers 128 and 175 they will not reach PiĆsudski Square during the event. The buses will turn left from MarszaĆkowska Street into KrĂłlewska and through Grzybowski Square, Twarda, Emilii Plater, they will reach the final stop Emilii Plater 02.
