Tourist season in Rome favors pickpockets. In recent months, the Italian police have been recording an increased number of theft cases committed against tourists.

Thieves in Italy. Where should you be especially careful?

As reported by the Roma Today website, criminals target people using public transport, mainly the metro. Organized groups they operate in the most crowded stations. The one connected to the Termini railway station is particularly vulnerable.

The services point to the established method of operation of thieves. They surround tourists, creating artificial pistoncommit a robbery and then disperse, escaping through various subway train exits.

At the beginning of May, the Rome police announced the arrest of 13 people. He was detained, among others: A 35-year-old Cuban who tried to steal the backpack of one of the tourists, or two Algerians who took a bag worth 1,500 euros from a woman who was busy taking photos of the Trevi Fountain.

In the information provided to PAP, consular services warned that “more and more Polish tourists are robbed in Rome” and appealed to them be especially vigilant.

Criminals like to rob campers and cars with foreign license plates.

It is also worth being careful in tourist places, in the city center and in the area Vatican.

Last year, the Belgian “Le Soir” presented an infamous list of countries where pickpocket attacks most often occur. It is led by Italy, where there are as many as 463 theft reports per million tourists.
