On Tuesday, shortly after 10.30 am, the auction began, where you can bid on a Volkswagen Polo in the iconic Harlekin version. This model, produced in the number of less than four thousand copies, became an automotive icon of the second half of the 1990s. The car will be auctioned for the benefit of the 31st Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.
We described the story of the creation of Harlekin less than two weeks ago. The Wolfsburg-based concern initially released only a few pieces of the yellow-green-blue-red car for promotional purposes. However, the concept was so popular that from 1995 to 1997 nearly four thousand copies rolled off the assembly line.
One year warranty for the iconic Volkswagen
Almost 30 years later, Harlequin’s colorful spirit is back. Employees of the Bidcar.pl company did a decent research work and Germany found a 1995 copy for sale. After importing to Poland, it was thoroughly checked for technical condition. Necessary repairs were carried out, fluids and filters were replaced.
Most of the work, however, was put into what distinguishes the car – the bodywork. All losses have been supplemented and each damaged element has been repainted in accordance with the original colors. In addition, the rims were painted, and the original blue steering wheel rim and gear knob were refreshed (as was the entire interior). The whole is complemented by custom-made floor mats and a trunk mat.
Most of the work has gone into the bodywork.
– We give a one-year warranty on this car. He is so prepared that we are not afraid of anything. Maybe someone will take it around the world, let’s wish it. Certainly nothing will happen to him – declares Artur Kopania, co-founder of Bidcar.pl and one of the originators of the auction.
The car’s birthday on the day of the 31st Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity
During the live broadcast on TVN24, Kopania inaugurated the auction. The starting price – PLN 100 – lasted literally for a while. Two hours later, it was several thousand zlotys.

– It’s definitely orchestral, the colors are very similar to those used by an orchestra. What’s more, this car has a birthday on the 31st of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. It was produced on January 29. So we have a clamp that binds it all together – adds Kopania.
– There is a full set of service books, current entries are made by us. The full history of the car was known to us. We have chosen a copy that will serve the new buyer for a long time – concludes the interlocutor of the TVN24 reporter.
