– When we arrived, about a quarter of the warehouse was already on fire. The structure of the building, the roof covered with a tarpaulin, as well as the goods stored inside were destroyed. We had to disassemble part of the warehouse ourselves to have access to the source of the fire – says Capt. Krzysztof Skoczek, press officer of the District Commander of the State Fire Service in Kwidzyn.

Due to the very high temperature generated, the firefighting operation lasted until the morning hours.

A total of 14 fire engines were dispatched to the spot. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident.

The cause and amount of damage are still unknown

As emphasized by Sgt. Damian Borowski from KPP Kwidzyn, the value of losses has not yet been estimated. The cause of the fire has not been determined either. The circumstances of the incident will be clarified by the police with the participation of an expert.
