Act on civil partnerships. Joanna Scheuring Wielgus on the plan to proceed with the bill in the Sejm

The guests of “Fakty po Faktach” on Thursday were the Deputy Minister of Culture, Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus from the New Left, and the senator of the Civic Coalition, Adam Szejnfeld. They both commented, among other things, on the opposition of the Polish People's Party to the provision on the adoption of the partner's biological child in a civil partnership.

– It is outrageous that we have not yet introduced this bill to the Sejm, said Scheuring-Wielgus. – I don't understand what problem Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has, because I listened to his statements yesterday. Two people who love each other, a man and a man, and have a child of one of these men, biological. Where does he see the problem? – she said.

– I would like to say that if PSL hinders this project, we will submit it as the Left and require the Marshal (Szymon) Hołownia not to keep this project in the freezer, but to proceed immediately – announced the deputy minister of culture.

– If my colleagues stop listening so humbly to the voices of the parish, maybe they will change their minds. To be honest, I could understand someone who would have doubts about adoption, but adopting a partner's child should be the best solution, said Senator Adam Szejnfeld.

In During Tuesday's “Piasecki's Talk”, the Minister for Equality Katarzyna Kotula was asked about the draft law on civil partnerships. She informed that the final talks on this subject with PSL were ongoing. As she said, the issue of adoption of the children has not been agreed.

Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, president of the Polish People's Party, was asked for his opinion on this matter. – I will not vote for the status of marriage for homosexual relationships and I will not vote for the adoption of children. I will be against it, I have always said it clearly, he declared. He stressed that this was his personal opinion. He added that issues of inheritance and access to medical information by persons entering into a civil partnership need to be considered.

The guests of “Fakty po Faktach” also commented on the appearance of Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik at the prosecutor's office.

Kamiński and Wąsik heard the prosecutor's charges on Thursday. As Szymon Banna, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, said, this is a case of failure to comply with the court's decision regarding the ban on conducting public activities and holding specific positions. Politicians took part in votes in the Sejm after the final judgment in their case was passed. Kamiński and Wąsik claim that they are still MPs and are protected by immunity.

– This series from PiS will continue for some time – said Scheuring-Wielgus. – It will last until they (are – editor) on the lists to the European Parliament. I have bad news for them: if they happen to be elected as MEPs, their immunity could also be taken away there. There will be a lot of notifications to the prosecutor's office and interrogations, because both Kamiński and Wąsik are involved in many different scandals that we have had here in Poland over the last 9 years, so the prosecutor's office will come knocking. I just hope that an independent court will simply judge them and they will eventually end up in prison, she said.

Szejnfeld said that their words of defense were “scandalous and shocking”. – They said (Kamiński and Wąsik – ed.) that they were not guilty, only Mr. Marshal Hołownia was guilty because he did not block their cards. If we assume that I didn't close the door, it means that the thief has the right to enter my apartment and rob me because I didn't close the window. This is this type of translation.
