Airports Council International, an organization bringing together airport authorities in the world, has just presented the latest list – The Airport Service Quality Awards. As every year, it indicates the best airports in the world in terms of passenger service.
The ASQ Awards, created in cooperation with the industry technology company Amadeus, were awarded in many local categories, divided according to the location of the ports and the number of passengers served by them, as well as one global category. In total, 75 airports around the world were awarded. Of these, 24 are in Europe, 22 in Asia-Pacific, 11 in North America, five in Latin America or the Caribbean, four in Africa and three in the Middle East.
As the authors of the list point out, there is no single winner in a given category. Instead, awards are given to the top 20 percent of airports in each group.
In the only worldwide category – “the best airport in terms of handling arriving passengers” – received three airports: Abu Dhabi International Airport in the United Arab Emirates, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the United States and Kempegowda International Airport in India.

Among European airports, the airports with Spain. Of the 24 awards, as many as seven went to the ports of this country. The organizers of the award also appreciated airports from Italy, Greece, Great Britain, North Macedonia, Estonia, Croatia, Turkey, Serbia, Iceland, Malta, Portugal, Switzerland, Hungary and Finland. No Polish airport made it to the list.

called best European airports, receiving more than 40 million passengers a year, the Italian port of Rome-Fiumicino and the Turkish airport of Istanbul were identified. In the category of ports with the number of visitors estimated at 25-40 million, the airports in Athens, Palma and Zurich were recognized. Aeropuerto de Alicante-Elche in Spain, Budapest Airport in Hungary and Helsinki Airport in Finland won the award for airports with between 15 and 25 million passengers a year. Smaller airports with 5-15 million visitors that received the award include: Ankara Esenboga Airport (Turkey), Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (Serbia), Keflavik International Airport (Iceland), Malta International Airport Malta), Milan Bergamo Airport (Italy), Porto Airport (Portugal), Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” (Greece). In the penultimate category – airports receiving from 2 to 5 million passengers – three airports were honored: Skopje International Airport in North Macedonia, Tallinn Airport in Estonia and Zagreb International in Croatia. In turn, the airports with the number of visitors not exceeding two million, who were awarded the ASQ Awards, are the Spanish: Aeropuerto de El Hierro, Aeropuerto de Pamplona, Aeropuerto de Reus, Aeropuerto Internacional Región de Murcia, Asturias Airport and the British Inverness Airport.
As part of this year’s list, its organizers have introduced four new categories. We are talking about: “the airport with the most committed staff”, “the airport that is easiest to reach”, “the most pleasant airport” and “the cleanest airport”. Several dozen winning ports were selected in each of the groups.

Among the “most pleasant airports” there were six in Europe, five in the Asia-Pacific region, three in North America, two in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as one airport in Africa and the Middle East. Here is their list:

Awards in the “cleanest airport” category went to a total of 18 airports around the world. Among them, 6 can be found in Europe. They are:
