“First of all, the actions will concern roads with the highest intensity of road and pedestrian traffic. Please remove vehicles from parking bays and sidewalks. At the same time, we would like to inform you that during the day, in order to avoid disruptions to road traffic, snow is removed pointwise from places that most require it, for example parking spaces for disabled people,” the authorities inform Zakopane. Snow lying on the sides of Zakopane’s streets makes movement difficult, especially for pedestrians who are often forced to walk on the road. Some parking bays are also filled with water.

Snow will be removed systematically, also on subsequent nights. It may only be transported to designated areas, close to watercourses. In Zakopane, such a snow depot is located at the school street on the Zakopianka Stream and next to the sewage treatment plant.

There will be no snowfall on Friday and Saturday, while further rainfall near Giewont is predicted for Sunday and next week. The city of Zakopane has already purchased 1,200 tons of road salt for the winter.
