Changes in the judiciary and KPO, the bill was sent to the Senate. Discussion in “Coffee on the Bench”

On January 13, the Sejm adopted the Law and Justice bill, which assumes changes in the judiciary, which, according to the authors, will allow the unblocking of EU funds from the National Reconstruction Plan for Poland. United Right disagreed about the amendment. Some members of the PiS club – including those from Solidarna Polska – voted against. Although all the opposition’s amendments were rejected, MPs from the Civic Coalition and the Left (in the vast majority) and KP-PSL (all) abstained from voting. This made it possible to pass the law. The Senate is due to consider it on January 31.

The fate of the changes in the judiciary was discussed on Sunday by politicians in “Kawa na bench” on TVN24.

– We will certainly submit amendments to the Senate – announced Bartosz Arłukowicz, MEP from the Civic Platform. He explained that they would be “submitted in order to heal this act as much as possible, bring it closer to the constitution.”

He added that in his opinion “there is no doubt what will happen next”. – Probably all these amendments will be rejected in the Sejm. But we have reached out, now there is no turning back.

Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus from the Left declared: – We act together in the Senate and we will submit amendments. That’s the deal.

The MP assessed that “the whole fault for the situation we have here lies with Law and Justice and the president Andrzej Dudawho cannot control Zbigniew Ziobro“. – If they could control this greatest pest, which leads to the fact that we do not have this money (from KPO – ed.), we would have a different situation. This money is needed. The ball is on your side. You are responsible for this for this money to come to Poland – she turned to the representatives of the ruling camp.

Dariusz Klimczak from PSL said that “you have to be consistent” and “this is expected of politicians”. – We did not reject this bill in the Sejm in order to reject it later in the Senate – he stated.

– We agreed clearly, and it is clear from the talks with senators that there will be amendments. Will there be more of them than those presented in the Sejm? It’s up to the senators. But we will not be provoked by PiS – said the MP.

Jadwiga Emilewicz from PiS expressed confidence that the Minister for European Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk “will conduct talks and participate in legislative process in the Senate.”

– He is open, as he was during the parliamentary committee, to talk about amendments. It is worth that none of the parties walled up, concreted in their blocks – she noted.

Artur Dziambor from the Confederation, addressing the government, said: – We warned you that this is how your negotiation successes with the European Union will look like.

– A PiS spokesman said the milestones were “imposed through dialogue”. And a government spokesman said that the milestones were invented by the government and that the government had prepared it. We were throwing ourselves at the European Commission, which imposes some laws on us, and here it turns out that it came from your government – he added.

Presidential Minister Paweł Szrot stated that “the president will not comment on these milestones, as it has not been agreed with him at any stage.”

– The president did not talk to the government a year ago or now about these milestones. This is the responsibility of the government, of course – stressed Szrot.
