IMWM warns about storms in seven voivodeships. The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy rainfall and gusty winds. There will be hail in places. According to the threat forecast, lightning may also pose a threat in the following days.
Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued warnings for Saturday and threat forecasts for the following days.
IMWM warnings – storms
On Saturday, storms are expected to occur over a large area of the country. Warnings apply in the following voivodeships:
- Pomeranian;
- Opole province;
- Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship (except counties in the east of the voivodeship);
- Łódźin the following counties: Poddębice, Sieradz, Wieluń, Wieruszów;
- Greater Poland (except counties in the west of the region);
- Lower Silesia (except counties in the west of the region);
- West Pomeranian Voivodeshipin the following counties: Szczecinek, Koszalin, Koszalin and Sławno.
According to forecasters, storms are forecast, accompanied by heavy rainfall of up to 20-25 liters per square meter and wind gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour. There will be hail locally.
The warnings will be in force between 3 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.
IMWM threat forecast for Sunday
On Sunday, violent phenomena are expected in most of Poland. According to the threat forecast, yellow storm warnings will probably apply in the following voivodeships: Pomeranian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Podlasie (in the north of the region), Masovian Voivodeship (in northern and western counties), Świętokrzyskie (outside eastern counties), Łódź, Greater Poland, Lower Silesia, Opole province, Silesian and Lesser Poland.
IMWM threat forecast for Monday
On the first day of next week, storms may appear in the southern part of the country. Forecasters plan to issue first-level warnings for the following voivodeships: Świętokrzyskie, Silesian, Lesser Poland and Opole province.
IMWM threat forecast for Tuesday
Frosts may return in northern Poland on Tuesday. Forecasters plan to issue first-degree alerts for the following voivodeships: West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Pomeranian, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Podlasie.

The first level warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life.
