Poland signed an agreement with the World Bank to finance the Clean Air program. The program budget is to be allocated EUR 250 million, which is the equivalent of nearly PLN 1.1 billion.
The Minister of Finance, Andrzej Domański, announced the signed contract on website X. “We have signed an agreement with the World Bank for EUR 250 million to finance the Clean Air program. We also talked with the president of @WorldBank, Ajay Banga, about the challenges facing the global economy and growing inequalities in the world,” wrote the head of the Ministry of Finance.
Domański did not provide any more details about the terms of the contract.
The Ministry of Climate and Environment at the end of January this year. informed that in the near future the Clean Air program will be financed from the National Reconstruction Plan, as well as money from the European Funds for Climate and Environment Infrastructure (FEnIKS). Financing the Clean Air program
On Wednesday, Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska announced that PLN 6.4 billion from the EU FEnIKS program will be allocated to the implementation of the Clean Air program. An agreement on this matter was concluded between the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and the provincial environmental protection funds, which are the operators of the program.
The minister said that PLN 6.4 billion should be enough to replace 111,000. heat sources and enable thermal modernization of nearly 100,000 single-family houses. The investments should also contribute to reducing emissions of 0.5 million tons of CO2 per year.
In addition On Monday, the European Commission paid Poland EUR 6.3 billion from the National Reconstruction Plan. This is the equivalent of approximately PLN 27 billion. The Clean Air Program is the largest anti-smog program in Poland. Owners of single-family houses can receive funds to replace non-ecological, high-emission old furnaces (so-called stoves), as well as to improve the energy efficiency of the building, e.g. by insulating it.
