The inspection of the indicated place was carried out by policemen and forensic technicians in the presence of representatives of the Society for the Protection of Animals. After the officers wrote down the protocol, the remains of the hedgehogs were disposed of by the Municipal Cleaning Company. Sebastian Gleń, spokesman for the Lesser Poland police, informed that the case was under investigation. According to preliminary findings, it could have been a provocation. The remains of the dismembered hedgehogs may have been dumped at night, after the workers had finished their work. This should be evidenced by degree of drying of the hair and wood.

Builders take ‘all precautions’

The city of Krakow assured that at the construction site of the tram line “the contractor takes all possible precautions on his part regarding the presence of animals there”. The construction is carried out under environmental supervision, and its employees were to be sensitized to “all cases threatening the animals living here”.
