The police are investigating the remains of hedgehogs that were to die during the construction of a tram line to Masterjowice in Krakow. Local activists alerted about the sad find. According to the preliminary assessment of the investigators, the corpses may have been planted.
About dead hedgehogs found in the area of ul. Młyńska on Thursday morning in their social media, activists of the Krakow initiative “Rescue Action for Krakow” informed. “It seems that they were shredded during the road and tram investment” – it was written.

It was also reported that earlier, dead pigeons were lying next to the felling site. It was also added that on the Krakow map of hedgehogs you can see that in the vicinity of ul. Młyńska these animals have their habitats.
Recall: the beginning of July she went there construction of a tram line to Championjowice. The city authorities estimate that thanks to this connection, the travel time from Championjowice to the city center will be shortened by about 12 minutes.

The city of Krakow referred to the matter of dead hedgehogs. As reported, the private partner responsible for the construction of the line to Championjowice informed the Road Management of the City of Krakow that in the fenced work site indicated by the residents at ul. Młyńska 6, animal remains were found. The Gülermak company notified the environmental supervision about the incident. The inspection of the indicated place was carried out by policemen and forensic technicians in the presence of representatives of the Society for the Protection of Animals. After the officers wrote down the protocol, the remains of the hedgehogs were disposed of by the Municipal Cleaning Company. Sebastian Gleń, spokesman for the Lesser Poland police, informed that the case was under investigation. According to preliminary findings, it could have been a provocation. The remains of the dismembered hedgehogs may have been dumped at night, after the workers had finished their work. This should be evidenced by degree of drying of the hair and wood.
Builders take ‘all precautions’
The city of Krakow assured that at the construction site of the tram line “the contractor takes all possible precautions on his part regarding the presence of animals there”. The construction is carried out under environmental supervision, and its employees were to be sensitized to “all cases threatening the animals living here”.
