Heavy rain and hail fell across many parts of the United Arab Emirates on Friday. Water flooded the roads, blocking traffic. The meteorological service urged drivers to use caution due to poor visibility caused by rain and wind and to avoid large puddles.

Heavy rain fell on Friday in many areas of the United Arab Emirates, including the city of Abu Dhabi and its outskirts and Dubai. The highest rainfall of 88.2 liters per square meter was recorded in Dhadna in the Emirate of Fujairah and on Sir Bu Nair Island in Sharjah, where 86.3 liters per square meter were recorded. – This is supposedly the worst weather at this time of year for years – says Katarzyna, who lives in Dubai, to the tvn24.pl portal. He adds that weather conditions are particularly severe for residents due to the fact that the city’s rainwater drainage system leaves much to be desired. – There’s nowhere to go. There is concrete, there is not much greenery, so the rain has nowhere to soak in – he adds. “Unusual, a downpour in the desert,” he remarks.

Drivers are asked to be careful

According to the National Meteorology Center (NCM), unstable weather conditions are expected to continue on Saturday, although they are expected to be less severe. However, rain is still forecast for the northern and eastern coastal areas of the country. A similar aura can be expected there on Sunday.
