Elimination of registration fees, taxis ordered via applications. Changes – the government approved the bill

The government has adopted a draft amendment to the Road Traffic Law. The new regulations provide for the abolition of the registration fee charged by the local government in connection with the registration of vehicles and the issuance of documents confirming the right to drive cars. The amendment is also intended to improve the safety of passengers in taxis ordered via the application. Now the new regulations will be submitted for work in the Sejm.

It is about a draft act amending the Road Traffic Act and some other acts. “The government wants to increase the safety of passengers who use, among others, transport ordered via the application. Moreover, the registration fee collected by the local government in connection with the registration of vehicles and issuing documents confirming the right to drive vehicles and by vehicle inspection stations during examinations will be abolished. technical,” the Government Information Center reported.

According to the project adopted by the government, you will not have to pay the registration fee, e.g. for vehicle registration; issuance of a registration certificate, temporary permit and legalized plates; conducting a technical inspection of the vehicle and reading the odometer of the vehicle after replacement. The registration fee is PLN 0.50 or PLN 1.

Taxi by apps – changes

The new regulations are also to contribute to increasing the safety of passengers in road transport. For this purpose, reliable verification of the person’s identity and his/her driving license will be ensured.

As it was added, entrepreneurs acting as intermediaries in road transport will be obliged, among others, to: to verify drivers who perform transport before starting cooperation and ordering the first transport – in the mode of personal appearance. As explained, each potential driver will have to report to the company in person, even before starting cooperation with it and carrying out the first transport. You will need to provide a photo of yourself, as well as a driver’s license and a criminal record. If the driver has a Polish driving license, the company will have to check the authenticity of the document in the government’s Central Register of Drivers (CEK) search engine.

An entrepreneur who brokers the transport of passengers will also have the right and obligation to process information on persons performing transport for five years – counting from the end of the calendar year in which the driver ended cooperation with a given entrepreneur.

Fines up to PLN 1 million

The new regulations will also tighten the penalties for breaching the obligations provided for in the Act Рboth for entrepreneurs who act as intermediaries in transport and for persons performing transport. As we can read in the communiqu̩, the act provides for fines of up to PLN 1 million for entrepreneurs who do not comply with the new regulations.

As reported, the provisions are to enter into force on the first day of the month following the month of publication in the Journal of Laws.
