Shahraban K., a German woman of Iraqi descent, is accused of murdering Khadidja O., who resembled her, together with a friend. The woman wanted to fake her own death. The crime took place near the Bavarian city of Ingolstadt. The background of the case was described by the German daily Bild. He described it as “one of the most shocking murders” of the past year.

On August 16, 2022, the parents of 24-year-old Shahraban K., looking for their daughter in Ingolstadt (Bavaria), noticed a Mercedes standing in front of the block of flats of her friend, 24-year-old Sheqir K. There was a woman’s body in the back seat of the car. “The parents thought it was their daughter, because the victim was confusingly similar. Then there was a spectacular turn of events: the alleged victim turned out to be the perpetrator of the crime,” writes “Bild”. The murdered person is 23-year-old Khadidja O., a woman from Eppingen (Baden-Württemberg) with Algerian roots.

The motive for faking her own death was supposedly Shahraban K.’s desire to cut herself off from her own family, with whom she was in conflict. She used fake Instagram accounts to find women who looked like her. She made contact with some of them.

The later victim, Khadidja O., was contacted by Shahraban K. in early August. They agreed to meet on August 16. Shahraban K. – as described by “Bild” – “calculated her victim into an ambush”. She went to Heilbronn for her with Sheqir K. On the same day, according to the indictment, the couple committed a crime in the forest on the route from Heilbronn to Ingolstadt.

The victim received more than 50 stab wounds. The perpetrators then drove on to Ingolstadt, where they left the victim’s body in the car. This was to finalize the plan to make it look like Shahraban K. had been murdered.

The couple is facing life imprisonment

“The murder weapon has not been found, but the weight of evidence is overwhelming. There were more than 50 stab wounds on the victim’s body, and her face was badly scarred. It was an extremely brutal murder,” said prosecutor Veronika Grieser.

Shahraban K. and Sheqir K. face life imprisonment.

Prosecutor Grieser added that “this was an extraordinary case that required exceptional skill from the investigators.” “Such investigations do not happen every day, especially with such an unexpected twist,” the prosecutor said.
