The “Election without drinking” campaign organized by the Committee for the Defense of Democracy received the main Platinum SABER Awards on Wednesday in London. “Elections without drinking” is a social election control campaign carried out during the last parliamentary elections in Poland.

The EMEA SABER Awards, prestigious in the public relations industry, were presented on Wednesday during a gala in London. The Main Platinum Award went to the “Elections without drinking” campaign organized by the Committee for the Defense of Democracy and run by the Komunikacja+ and Must Be Loud agencies.

As the industry portal provokemedia.com writes, “'Election without drinking' is a social public relations campaign to protect the integrity of elections in Poland. It was recognized as the best public relations campaign of the year, beating out four other finalists in the Platinum category. This is the most important award in the competition, that distinguishes campaigns from all over Europe.

The campaign was also awarded the main prize in the Baltic countries category and the Certificate of Excellence distinction in the pro bono campaign category. “At a time when disinformation is rampant and the integrity of elections is being tested around the world, this Polish campaign has shown how effective communication can educate and convince voters about the validity of their electoral systems,” said Paul Holmes, chairman of the EMEA SABER jury.

“Elections without drinking”

The election social control campaign “Elections without drinking” was conducted in traditional media, on the Internet, on billboards and during outdoor events organized by members and supporters of the Committee for the Defense of Democracy. Famous actors and celebrities got involved pro bono, including: Krzysztof Zalewski, Robert Makłowicz, Jan Peszek, Jacek Braciak, Agata Buzek, Karolina Gruszka, Maciej Stuhr and Krzysztof Materna.

– Secondly, this award shows how invaluable the participation of civil society in the electoral process is and how important, I would say fundamental from the point of view of the whole of Europe, what happened in October last year in Poland. We promise that every next election in our country will be “drink-free,” he added.
