He was caught while stealing alcohol worth a few zlotys. He agreed to accept the ticket and signed it, but also asked what the penalty for impersonating another person is. Turns out it wasn’t just curiosity. The 36-year-old already knows that he faces up to five years in prison.

In one of the shops in Grójec, the police officers arrested a thief arrested by an employee. The man stole alcohol worth several zlotys.

– During the activities, he provided personal data and accepted the penalty ticket imposed on him, which he signed. At one point, however, he asked what is the penalty for impersonating another person. The police began to suspect that the man may have provided false information. After questioning, he admitted that he had provided his brother’s details and signed for him – says the superintendent in the communiqué. Agnieszka Wójcik from the Grójec police.

He has been stopped. After checking and confirming the personal data, it turned out that the 36-year-old gave the police the details of his younger brother. Their date of birth was different, but in the pictures they were very similar.

A resident of the Opoczno poviat was charged with creating false evidence in order to prosecute an innocent person for an offense concurrent with the crime of document forgery.

The 36-year-old will now appear in court and face up to five years in prison. He still has to pay a shoplifting fine.
