The Central Statistical Office plans to make available an individual inflation calculator in the fourth quarter of 2024. As indicated, thanks to this tool you will be able to estimate the inflation rate affecting your own household.

The media cooperation department of the Central Statistical Office informed that the calculator is currently being tested internally to ensure the correctness of calculations and is being expanded in terms of the proposed functionalities. “We are planning a test version of the application. The calculator is to be made available experimentally at the end of the year, i.e. in the fourth quarter,” it was reported.

The advantage of the tool being developed is its flexibility, i.e. enabling the implementation of one’s own expenditure structure or other criteria, e.g. according to classes of locality. “Using the calculator and your own notes on the structure of consumer spending, everyone will be able to estimate the inflation rate affecting their own household,” it explained.

The Central Statistical Office stipulated that the calculations can be performed using an individual calculator inflation will be for informational purposes only and will not constitute an indicator within the meaning of generally applicable law.

At the end of January this year. In the publication “What is worth knowing about inflation, part II”, the Central Statistical Office included information about work on the creation of an individual inflation calculator/simulator.

“Since the early 1990s, the Central Statistical Office has been developing and publishing price indices of consumer goods and services for 7 groups of households according to the criterion of the main source of income. Work is also being carried out to prepare a calculator of the so-called individual inflation, which would allow its calculation using data about its own expenditure structure,” the Office reported at the time.
