And although the North Carolina-based pair successfully navigated themselves via the streets of Glasgow, Bonifacio and Thessaloniki, getting these two $500,000 checks into their financial savings account was a comedy of errors.
“He was so excited, he ripped it open,” Kim recalled of her husband of 19 years. “So we needed to drive to the financial institution and, like, tape it.”
From there, although, they adopted their recreation plan to a T, even holding off on changing Penn’s automobile as a result of they did not wish to get too loopy with their prize cash.
As an alternative, “we paid taxes,” mentioned Kim. One other 30 p.c they donated and shared, and roughly 28 p.c was put aside for his or her daughter Lola, 17, and son Penn Charles, 14, to attend school. “And I believe that left us with slightly below 10 grand.”
Which is after they realized the world was waiting for them. And so, continued Kim, “We took the children on a visit to France final 12 months.”
