1.5 per mille of alcohol in the body had a 53-year-old man who fell off the road in Końskowola (Lubelskie Voivodeship) and drove his car into the river. Police officers and a random passerby pulled him out of the vehicle at the last moment before it sank.

The accident happened on Saturday (January 21). Sergeant Małgorzata Pawłowska, the press officer of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Puławy, reports that after 6.30 p.m., police officers received a report about a driver whose behavior indicates that he may be under the influence of alcohol.

A patrol was dispatched to the spot immediately. During the arrival, the police received another information that the driver probably drove into the river. Quickly taken action by traffic police officers together with a passer-by allowed the driver to be pulled out despite the strong current of the river. Help came at the last moment, shortly after the vehicle sank, the police officer reports.

According to the police, the man got behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol. He had over 1.5 per mille in his body.

The man was not injured in the accident. – After the tests, he told the policemen that after drinking vodka, he was going to refuel the car – describes Pawłowska.

The 53-year-old was taken into police custody. Driving under the influence of alcohol carries a driving ban of three to 15 years, a heavy fine and up to two years in prison.
