Kuzawka, Lublin. The rain washed away part of the road, cutting off the town

On Thursday evening, they passed over eastern Poland storms. The phenomena brought hail and heavy rain, and the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued hydrological warnings for a part of the Lubelskie Voivodship.

As reported by the duty officer of the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Lublin Maciej Falandysz, on the night from Thursday to Friday in Kuzawka Kolonia (Lubelskie Voivodeship) the road collapsed. A lot of rainwater flowed down the culvert running under the provincial road No. 816, which caused its damage and the collapse of the roadway across its entire width.

– Water flowing from the fields through the road culvert in the direction of the Bug washed away this culvert and part of the road with the ground on a section of about 5 meters – the duty officer said.

Łukasz Jaszczuk, deputy mayor of the Sławatycze commune, said in an interview with TVN24 that despite the serious damage to the road, no one was hurt as a result of the incident.

As one of the inhabitants of Sławatycze told TVN24, Thursday’s storm brought huge downpours.

“The storm was terrible, and it was instantaneous, cloudburst, hail and rain,” she said. – There was no way to drive a car, just the wipers could not keep up with collecting this rain, this hail. (…) There is a big hole, Sławatycze and Hanna are cut off.

Due to the damage to the roadway, the road at the scene of the incident was completely closed until the pavement was repaired. Vehicles are directed to a detour through the town of Janówka.
