Only within 12 hours – from Saturday evening to Sunday morning – five people died and four were injured on the roads of the Łódź Voivodeship. The causes of the accidents that took place in Nowstawy Dolne, Borki, Łódź and Bobry are being explained by police officers and prosecutors.
The first accident in a series of accidents took place on Saturday before 7 p.m. on the A2 motorway – in Nowostawy Dolne (Brzeziny poviat) – on the road towards Poznań. – According to the preliminary findings of the police officers, a 19-year-old resident of Toruń, driving a BMW during an overtaking maneuver, lost control of the vehicle and led to a collision with a Mercedes car driven by a 43-year-old man – informed Asp. pcs. Radosław Gwis from the press office of the Łódź police. He added: – As a result of the accident, a 20-year-old BMW passenger died at the scene. An 18-year-old passenger in the same car was taken to hospital where, despite the efforts of doctors, she died of her injuries.
The driver of the BMW was transported to the hospital. According to police, both the woman and the 43-year-old driver of the Mercedes were sober. For the duration of the action, traffic on the motorway was in one lane.

An hour later in the village of Borki – near Łęczyca on the national road No. 91 – there was a collision of two passenger cars. One person died and one was injured.
– According to the preliminary findings of the police officers, a 30-year-old driving an Opel Insignia for unknown reasons drove to the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Fiat Seicento driven by a 23-year-old resident of Łęczyca driving in the opposite direction – reported Gwis.
As a result of the collision, the Fiat burst into flames and was completely burnt out. The 23-year-old died at the scene. A 30-year-old man driving the Opel was taken to the hospital. The man was sober.
