The police, under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, are investigating the circumstances of the death of two men who were fatally electrocuted while cutting down trees in Nisko (Podkarpackie Voivodeship). According to the police, one of the peaks hit a power line and electrocuted a 24-year-old who was standing on a ladder and a 38-year-old who tried to help him.
This tragic event took place on Tuesday (October 10) a few minutes after 5 p.m. Police officers from Nisko received a report of an accident that occurred in the area of Modrzewiowa Street while cutting down trees near high-voltage lines.
“As initially determined, employees of one company were cutting tree tops near high-voltage lines. At one point, one of the tree tops caught a power line, which electrocuted a 24-year-old man standing on a ladder. A 38-year-old man standing nearby, trying to help his friend, was also electrocuted. The third employee, a 45-year-old man, saw what happened and called the emergency services,” the police from Nisko said in a statement.
The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the prosecutor’s office and the National Labor Inspectorate
The lives of the 24-year-old and the 38-year-old could not be saved. According to the police, the men were residents of the Łódź Voivodeship.
The investigation into the tragic event is being conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Nisko.
The National Labor Inspectorate was also notified about the incident.
