Dead

On Monday (February 28), the head of the Lublin Północ District Prosecutor’s Office in Lublin, JarosÅ‚aw Warszawski, told the Polish Press Agency that the woman had died and her body would be subjected to an autopsy that would “help determine the course of events”.

– The section is to show the mechanism of the injuries: how they were caused, what was their type and nature – said Warszawski, specifying that it will be crucial to determine whether the woman was hit by a car or fell herself.

He stipulated that investigators interviewed witnesses and secured monitoring from the scene, but “the facts are not easy to assess”.

The child’s father addressed the matter on Twitter

Shortly after the accident, a Lublin doctor, Jakub Kosikowski, referred to the case on Twitter, who wrote that the hit woman is his child’s nanny and is fighting for her life in the hospital.

– I was not going to comment on this, but changed my mind when I read some comments online that suggested that the babysitter got under the wheels of the vehicle. It’s not true. I saw it with my own eyes on the surveillance video – he said on February 17 in an interview with tvn24.pl.

As he said, he asked the administration of the block to provide the recording, because the injuries suffered by the nanny and the condition of the wheelchair did not agree with his theory that the woman fainted and fell on the road.

“After reviewing the surveillance video, I called the police. It was two hours after the accident, he described.

The suspect faces up to 12 years in prison

Complaint against the decision of the court

On February 18, the court rejected the prosecutor’s request for the temporary arrest of Grzegorz M.

– The court considers that there are no grounds to assume that there was a runaway from the scene of the accident. It indicates that the suspect remained at the scene long after the incident, and then reported himself to the police unit to clarify the matter and leaving his data, said the spokesperson of the District Court in Lublin, Barbara Markowska, to the Polish Press Agency.

The prosecutor’s office appealed against the court’s decision.
