The police detained a 51-year-old man from the Łęczyński district (Lubelskie Voivodeship) suspected of fraud. The man took money from people, offered profits on the stock market. When his business began to generate losses, he used a false income certificate to take loans from banks. Total scams: PLN 3.7 million.
The investigation in this case is being conducted by police officers dealing with economic crime from the Police Headquarters in Lublin under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the uniforms, the detained 51-year-old had been investing money on the stock exchange since 2010.
– Concluded futures transactions with the highest degree of risk with the so-called financial leverage. The funds came from private individuals who believed him in his assurances of a twenty-one percent return per year. Investing money by the 51-year-old not only did not bring profit, but also generated losses – quotes Superintendent Andrzej Fijołek, spokesman for the Provincial Police Headquarters in Lublin.
He deceived people, took out loans for false data
According to the spokesman, the 51-year-old began to cover the alleged profits of existing “clients” with the money of the new “clients”. – When there were no new people willing to invest, he decided to take loans from banks and lending entities using a false income certificate – reports Superintendent Fijołek.
He heard the charges, he is facing prison
According to the uniformed officer, as a result of his actions, the 51-year-old led to an unfavorable disposal of the property of 29 people and seven business entities for a total amount of PLN 3.7 million.
After his arrest, the man was charged with 36 counts of fraud. At the request of the prosecutor’s office, he was temporarily arrested. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
