Malaysia. Teenager Fahim was playing hide and seek and found six days later in a shipping container in Malaysia

15-year-old Fahim from the city of Chittagong (formerly Chittagong) in Bangladesh On January 11, he was playing hide-and-seek with his friends in the area of ​​the local port. While playing, the boy accidentally locked himself in one of the containers standing on the wharf. Locked in a metal structure without windows, no one managed to find the container, but after some time the container was loaded on a ship by crane and sailed away.

For six consecutive days, from January 11 to 17, the boy sailed to the port of Klang in Malaysia, which is almost 3,000 kilometers away. “The boy probably entered the container, fell asleep and woke up here,” Malaysian Interior Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was quoted as saying by Bernama news agency. The recording shared on social media shows how port workers release the boy from the container, and he climbs out of it on his own, although clearly disoriented. The video also shows how the emergency services later take care of him and carry the 15-year-old on a stretcher to the ambulance.

The teenager spent six days without food or water, but there is no information that the six-day journey seriously damaged his health. The head of the Malaysian Interior Ministry only informed that the boy was weak and had a fever, so he was taken for examination. The Indian “India Times” noted that the boy did not speak or understand the local Malay language, so communication with him was very difficult.

A police report was also filed as it was feared that the boy might have been the victim of illegal human trafficking or another crime. Ultimately, however, the investigation ruled out these suspicions. Minister Ismail confirmed that the 15-year-old was the only person found in the container. Malaysian authorities are now trying to arrange for the 15-year-old to be legally returned home.
