– This is impossible at the moment, but we are doing everything to clarify the role of individual management board members and the role of PiS politicians. As the Minister of State Assets added, “various experts say that Orlen, generally the state, could have lost several billion zlotys on this (the merger of Orlen and Lotos – ed.).

“He will appear in court”

The minister emphasized that anyone who broke the law must be held accountable. He added that entering the European Parliament does not protect against crimes committed before receiving the mandate. – If Mr Obajtek thinks he will run away to the European Parliament so as not to be held accountable for what he did in Orlen, I have to disappoint him. Well, for every damage caused and for every crime he committed, if the prosecutor finds so, he will be held accountable in court. So even his evacuation to Brussels will not help, Budka emphasized. The minister also informed that one of the members of the Orlen management board spent over PLN 1 million on a credit card during his term of office, of which nearly PLN 400,000. PLN for dinners in restaurants and nearly PLN 200,000. for dinner abroad. – The Ministry of State Assets, supervisory boards of companies and auditors will settle every zloty that was illegally spent, and what's more, if a crime has been committed, prosecutors will receive ready-made materials – announced the head of the Ministry of State Assets.
