Four popular patterns for laying parquet floors are: herringbone, checkerboard and… broom and block, snake and slats, ladder and brick or rake and hoe? This question was answered by Mrs. Magda Jaroszuk from Wrocław for PLN 10,000.
Monday's episode of the “Millionaires” program belonged to Ms. Magda. At the beginning of the game, host Hubert Urbański told the audience that the participant was most afraid of “that high chair”, which, as it turned out, was not that high at all. Mrs. Magda was accompanied by her friend Melania in the audience. She pointed out the participant's two strongest points: knowledge and spontaneity.
During the game for one million zlotys, the participant demonstrated her knowledge mainly in the field of linguistics and geography. She used only one lifeline – a question to the audience. Mrs. Magda heard, among other things, a question worth PLN 10,000, which was as follows:

D: rake and hoe
Ms. Magda initially did not know the answer to this question. She confessed to Hubert Urbański, the host of the game show “Millionaires”, that she had never laid a parquet floor. The participant assumed that the answer was analogous to the herringbone and chessboard pattern C: ladder and brick. Mrs. Magda took a risk and marked the above-mentioned answer.
