A fine of PLN 1,500, 13 penalty points and a driving license taken away – these were the consequences suffered by a 34-year-old driver detained in Nowa Sól. The man was driving more than twice as fast as allowed in a built-up area.

On Wednesday at 5:27 p.m., Nowa Sól traffic police officers patrolling the streets of Nowa Sól noticed a speeding Volkswagen.

– A resident of Świebodzin County was driving on Starostawska Street at a speed of 110 kilometers per hour in a built-up area – informs officer Justyna Sęczkowska-Sobol, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Nowa Sól.

The driver was immediately detained for inspection. – The officers stopped the 34-year-old's driving license and received 13 penalty points on his account. The driver of the Volkswagen was fined PLN 1,500, reports Sęczkowska-Sobol.

The policewoman emphasizes that speeding on the road is still the main cause of the most tragic road accidents.

– Any irresponsible behavior behind the wheel may have serious consequences. Often we have much more to lose than money, he concludes.
