American writer Paul Auster, author of, among others, the “New York Trilogy”, has died. The cause of death was complications caused by lung cancer, the New York Times reported on Wednesday. He was 77 years old.
Paul Auster was born into a Jewish family, his ancestors came to the USA from Poland. He was a writer, screenwriter, essayist, translator and film director.
The writer became a New York literary icon thanks to his “New York Trilogy”, published in 1987. These are three detective novels (“Glass City”, “Ghosts”, “Closed Room”), the main content of which were existential and universal considerations.
