PKP Intercity. Janusz Malinowski is the new president

On Friday, PKP Intercity announced the dismissal of the current management board and the appointment of a new one. Janusz Malinowski returned to the position of president, and Dagmara Zawadzka took over as vice-president.

“As of April 19, 2024, by decision of the General Meeting of PKP Intercity SA, the following were dismissed from the Company's Management Board: Mr. Marek Chraniuk – president of the management board, Mr. Tomasz Gontarz – vice-president of the management board and members of the management board: Mr. Jarosław Oniszczuk, Mr. Artur Resmer and Mr. Krzysztof Świerczek” – PKP Intercity announced in an official statement.

PKP Intercity also announced that “to serve as president of the management board from April 19, 2024. The General Meeting of PKP Intercity SA appointed Mr. Janusz Malinowski“The position of vice-president will be held by Dagmara Zawadzka, while the remaining members of the management board will be Marcin Karasiński and Adam Wawrzyniak.

Who is the new president of PKP Intercity?

Janusz Malinowski is a graduate of the Radom University of Technology in the field of railway transport management. He has been associated with the railway for almost 40 years. In the years 2011-2014, he served as a member of the management board and president of the management board of PKP Intercity, where he was responsible for implementing the largest rolling stock investments, including: purchase of electric multiple units, including Pendolino trains.

As PKP IC adds, Malinowski “since 2017 served as president of the management board of Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna, previously in 2015-2017 he held the position of member of the management board of Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna. He was responsible, among others, for ticket integration and passenger information of Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna and the city of Łódź , as well as for the commercial policy and investment development of the company in terms of rolling stock.

The announcement also states that vice-president Dagmara Zawadzka has over 20 years of professional experience in the field of finance. He specializes in the transport and fuel industries. She is a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics and the Aarhus School of Business. Additionally, she is a scholarship holder of California Polytechnic University and completed postgraduate studies in the field of International Financial Reporting Standards at the Warsaw School of Economics. In 2015–2016, she worked at PKP Intercity, where she managed the Finance and Purchasing department.

PKP Intercity is the largest Polish railway operator, providing communication between large cities and popular tourist centers in the country, as well as enabling travel around Europe.

By 2030, PKP Intercity plans to run approximately twice as many trains and increase the number of passengers to almost 90 million annually. The company adopted the “PKP Intercity – Railway of Large Investments” strategy, which assumes an investment of PLN 27 billion in modern rolling stock and infrastructure.
