A 33-year-old man who attacked his mother on Saturday in Ostrzeszów (Greater Poland) will spend three months in custody. The man beat her with a metal pipe while she was talking on the phone outside the house and unpacking things from the car. He faces life imprisonment for attempted murder.
The incident took place on Saturday, May 4 in Ostrzeszów. That day, a 33-year-old man came to visit his mother. He found her outside the house, talking on the phone and unloading groceries from the car.
Neighbors heard screams
– For reasons unknown, at least for now, he attacked his mother with a metal pipe. He hit her on the head and face. The woman defended herself and pulled out pepper spray. She started calling for help, her screams were heard by neighbors who came to see what was happening. They called an ambulance and the police, said Maciej Meler, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Ostrów Wielkopolski.
The scared 33-year-old man escaped into the forest and hid there all day. He was arrested the next day in the neighboring Ostrów County. The police had to use force to enter the apartment where he was hiding.
Serious injuries to the woman
– The woman suffered a number of injuries, which experts described as seriously damaging her health in the form of a disease that really threatened her life – said prosecutor Meler.
The suspect was charged with attempted murder with possible intent. He was imprisoned for three months. He faces 10 years to life in prison.
