During Wednesday’s Sejm session, there were plenty of verbal quarrels between parliamentarians. – What do you think – will I remove you from the meeting with an old custom or will I smile with a new one (with a new custom – ed.) You are a fantastic MP, it’s good that you are with us – said Włodzimierz Czarzasty, who chaired the meeting, to Norbert Kaczmarczyk from PiS. Earlier, the deputy marshal recalled what the Sejm debates looked like from his perspective over the last four years. “Meetings at night, expediting all laws, breaking all rules,” Czarzasty described.
On Wednesday, the Sejm debated the draft changes to the Rules of Procedure of the Sejm, proposed by the presidium of the chamber, which assumes a change in the method of voting on choice the Prime Minister, in the so-called second constitutional step, and in the rules of work of the Parliamentary Public Finance Committee on the budget. The House will proceed to vote on the adoption of changes to the rules of procedure after the list of submitted amendments has been delivered to the Members of Parliament.
During the debate, among others, the MP spoke PIS Barbara Bartuś. – There was so much talk in the previous eight years about the Marshal’s freezers, about democracy, and today all the rules are being broken (…) The best example is the issue of dealing with changes to the regulations, which should be the foundation of the work of the Sejm and should be respected. Any changes that will be made should be done deliberately and in accordance with procedures and rules, she said.
Bartuś (PiS): will we watch performances on YouTube?
– A shameful example is the interference with the Rules Committee that took place last week, when the agenda of the Rules Committee was extended to include a draft interpretation of the Rules of Procedure, convincing the MPs that we had received it. We had neither a project nor an opinion for this project. An hour and a half after the start of the Sejm session, we received by e-mail the information we had been talking about since 10 a.m. – explained Bartuś.
– Today we have already had two readings. Is this what the transparency of the Polish Sejm is supposed to look like, that we will be able to watch performances on YouTube? – the Law and Justice MP asked rhetorically.
Czarzasty: If we wanted to continue the tradition, you would have two seconds to speak
He commented on her statement Włodzimierz Czarzasty, who led the meeting. – Thank you as the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm of the previous term, who watched the proceedings of the Sejm every day, meetings at night, the acceleration of all laws, the breaking of all rules – he said.
– Madam, if we wanted to continue the tradition of the previous Sejm, you would have two seconds to speak, and if your statement was unpleasant, you would be asked to speak at that moment. I have a heartfelt request to you. Let every statement you make be consistent with the truth and with what has been happening for four years – Czarzasty replied.
Czarzasty: What do you think – will I delete you with the old habit or smile with the new one?
Then Włodzimierz Czarzasty turned to Norbert Kaczmarczyk from PiS, who was sitting behind Barbara Bartuś. – Sir, what do you think – will I remove you from the meeting with the old custom or will I smile with the new (editor’s custom)? I’m smiling at you. It’s the first time I’ve seen you in my life. You are a fantastic MP, it’s good that you are with us, said the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm. While addressing MP Kaczmarczyk, he gave two thumbs up.
