A 13-year-old boy went missing while swimming on an unguarded beach in Piaski. The unconscious boy was pulled ashore by sunbathers. The child was airlifted to the hospital. His condition is severe.

Sebastian Kluska, Director of the Maritime Search and Rescue Service, was the first to announce the accident on Thursday (June 29) at the unguarded bathing beach in Piaski, near Krynica Morska (Pomeranian Voivodeship).

According to the spokesman for the Maritime Search and Rescue Service, Rafał Goeck, around 1.30 p.m., emergency services were alerted about the disappearance of a 13-year-old. The boy was last seen in the water. He was on the beach with his parents. They came from the Mazowieckie Voivodeship.

– Our coastal rescue station from Sztutowo immediately set out to search. When the other services arrived at the scene, the unconscious and non-breathing boy was found in the water by beachgoers. They began performing the first rescue activities with him – says the spokesman.

The helicopter took the boy to the hospital

He adds that until the arrival of the ambulance and the air ambulance helicopter, the 13-year-old was resuscitated all the time.

“The helicopter took the baby to the hospital,” Goeck said.

The boy’s condition is assessed as serious.
