Shakira’s record song. She referred to her relationship with Pique again

On Wednesday, January 11, Shakira published the song “BZRP” on the Internet, recorded in the studio of Argentine DJ and music producer Bizarrap. There are many sentences in the song that seem to be addressed to the former partner of the singer Gerard Piqué. “I’m worth as much as two 22-year-olds, you traded a Ferrari for a twingo, traded a Rolex for a Casio” – this is one of the phrases that drew the attention of hundreds of thousands of people commenting on the hit. Less than 24 hours after the premiere, the clip with the participation of the Colombian and the Argentinian on YouTube was viewed more than 60 million times.

Last weekend, Shakira decided to thank fans for receiving the song and expressing their support. “I never thought what was a catharsis and relief for me would become number one,” she wrote on Instagram, referring to the fact that the song landed at number one on Spotify. As she noted, she achieved success “at the age of 45 and (singing) in Spanish”.

“I want to hug the millions of women who rise up against those who make us feel insignificant,” the post continued. “Women who stand up for what they feel and think and raise their hand when they disagree, even if others raise their eyebrows. They are my inspiration,” she added. She also emphasized that she is about behaving “not in the way that society tells us to, but in the way we can think of, in the way that will help us come out straight for our children, our parents and for those who need us and hope in us.”

In an earlier post, Shakira wrote that the “incredible” success of the song is due to “a great band and a group of warrior girls who walk beside me”. She also thanked “all the women who teach me how to make sweet lemonade when life gives you sour lemons.” The next day, she added another thank you. This time for more than 100 million views, which the new track reached within days of its release, becoming the first track in the Spanish language to reach a dizzying score in such a short time.

Shakira and Piqué met when in 2010, the singer was shooting a clip for the song “Waka Waka” on the occasion of the World Cup in South Africa. They never got married, they have two sons: 9-year-old Milan and 7-year-old Sasha. A custody hearing was held in December. An agreement was reached for the children to stay with their mother in Miami.

Shakira first spoke publicly about her breakup with Piqué in September 2022, three months after the end of the relationship. “It’s very difficult for me to talk about it, especially since this is the first time I’ve commented on this matter publicly. I’ve been quiet all this time, trying to work it out somehow. It’s still not easy for me, especially since I’m in the spotlight, so this separation is not like the others” – she admitted in an interview with the magazine “Elle”.
