Two extremely neglected dogs were picked up from a property in a village near Jawor in Lower Silesia. The owner kept the bitches in terrible conditions – in a pen full of excrement, without water or food. A visit to the vet confirmed that one had advanced cancer and the other had bad teeth and paws.

The Jawor police duty officer received a report of animal abuse. The reporting person informed that a 46-year-old resident of a village in the Wądroże commune keeps her two dogs in conditions that threaten their life and health.

“After entering the property, the eyes of the criminals met a terrible sight. They saw a playpen made of elements of a metal fence, inside of which there were terrible conditions. There was a stench in the room, feces on the ground, and two frightened dogs in a small wooden kennel. The pen was not insulated, it was dark inside, and the animals were not provided with water or food, says Ewa Kluczyńska, press officer of the police in Jawor.

The poviat veterinarian and a representative of the local Animal Welfare Society were summoned to the site.

“What we found there cannot be described in words. A rusty, empty bowl, two matted, dirty and flea-infested bitches living in a place full of feces, which is insulting to any living creature. We haven’t seen such scandalous conditions for a long time. The decision was unanimous – the bitches are taken away “- informs TOZ Jawor.

On the same day, we managed to obtain the appropriate decision of the mayor to temporarily take the animals away from the owner. The bitches were examined and, as it turned out, they have a long way to go to recover.

“A visit to the vet confirmed our fears: one of the bitches has advanced cancer and requires urgent surgery. The other is in better condition, although her teeth and paws also require urgent surgical intervention” – noted the members of TOZ Jawor.

The owner will be charged

During the intervention, the police officers made photographic documentation and recorded video material showing the living conditions of the animals. A dog owner is about to be charged with abusing her dogs. She may face a penalty of up to 3 years in prison.
