Ukraine. Hanna Malar, deputy defense minister: troops in the east advanced, among others, towards Bakhmut

Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malar said that Ukrainian troops advanced in several directions of the front at once, including towards Bakhmut in the east. As she added, heavy fighting continues in southern Ukraine, where Russian troops suffer significant losses.

“The eastern grouping of troops launched an attack in several directions at once, in the direction of Orichovo-Vasylivka, Bakhmut, Bohdanivka, Yahidny, Kliszczyivka and Kurdyumiwka. They advanced in all directions,” Malar wrote on Telegram.

The towns mentioned by the deputy defense minister are located around Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.

On the south Ukraine “Heavy fighting continues in all directions. The enemy is on the defensive and making efforts to stop our offensive activities,” Malar added. She assured that the Russians suffer “significant losses in people, weapons and equipment”.

The commander of the troops in southern Ukraine, General Oleksandr Tarnavsky, announced that the army had liberated areas in the Krasnohorivka region in the Donetsk region. According to Tarnawski, these areas have been occupied since 2014. “Our forces are moving on,” added Tarnawski.

Military spokesman Valery Shershen also informed about the liberation of the area near Krasnohorivka; he explained that this happened a week ago, but the information was only released now “for tactical reasons”.
