“More and more countries agree that we need to talk to Ukraine about its specific path to NATO, what concrete steps will be taken, what we expect from the Ukrainians in terms of necessary reforms, the end of the war, and how we imagine their victory,” explained the head of the Lithuanian MFA. .

In his opinion, this conversation should be open, honest and ideally take place at the NATO summit in Vilnius. On Thursday, the Lithuanian parliament adopted a resolution for the summer NATO summit in Vilnius, which included an official invitation to Ukraine to join the Alliance.

The document states that it is “necessary to invite” Ukraine to “join NATO as a member state” and to “sign the accession protocols and start the ratification process as soon as conditions allow.”
