You could hear laughter from the right side of the room at the quite obvious statements that Germany is our very important partner – said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, in “Fakty po Faktach”, commenting on the reactions to his speech on foreign policy goals. He admitted that he was “surprised” by the president's reaction. Sikorski also said that the “first applications” for changes in ambassadorial positions have already been sent to Andrzej Duda. – We'll see what the president will do – he added.

The head of Polish diplomacy spoke in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 about Andrzej Duda's spontaneous reactions to Radosław Sikorski's parliamentary speech on foreign policy goals. The president shook his head, spoke words during his speech, or stared at the tablet. This was the case, among others, when the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Germany was an ally of Poland.

– I was surprised by the president's reaction to me saying that Germany is our ally, because I don't see anything controversial in it – admitted Radosław Sikorski.

When asked whether this means that Duda does not agree with the foreign policy pursued by the government, the TVN24 guest said that the president is “probably not alone” in this. – Because you could hear (…) laughter from the right side of the room at the quite obvious statements that Germany is our very important trading partner – he said.

Changing ambassadors

The minister was also asked about the decision made in March completion of the mission by over 50 ambassadors and whether it was possible to reach an agreement with the president regarding the appointment of new ones.

Sikorski admitted that “indeed, the president's signature is needed for the final exchange of the ambassador.” – We are in dialogue. The first applications have been submitted. We'll see what the president will do, he said.

– He asked for four collaborators, he changed his mind. Now he wants to defend these PiS political nominees from the last two years. Not all of them are suitable, so I believe that many of these missions should be completed before the usual time of three to four years, he commented.

He added that “the president has the right to change his mind.” – I will send applications – announced the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
