The Dacia driver ended his journey in the barriers in Ochota. It turned out he was drunk. He blew 1.7 per mille.

The incident took place on Lt. Col. Street. Mieczysław Sokołowski “Grzymała”, near the Kopińska hall. As Artur Węgrzynowicz, a reporter for tvnwarszawa.pl, found out, a drunk driver hit the barriers.

The information about the incident was confirmed by the police. The report was received at 4:20 p.m. – The driver of the Dacia hit the barriers and ended his journey there. After arriving at the scene, the police tested his sobriety. His breath contained 1.7 per mille of alcohol, said Gabriela Putyra from the Warsaw Police Headquarters.

No one was hurt in the incident. – No other vehicles were involved. The case is being investigated by police officers from the road traffic department, Putyra noted. The policewoman also added that the car driven by the man would be confiscated.

When can the police confiscate your car?

On March 14, regulations came into force enabling the confiscation of cars, including: drunk drivers. According to them, every drunk driver who has at least 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his blood will lose his car, regardless of whether he caused a road accident. Car forfeiture is also to be applied when the driver causes an accident with a blood alcohol content above 100% or in a situation of recidivism.

According to the applicable regulations, the forfeiture of the vehicle is obligatory, among others: in the event that the perpetrator of a catastrophe or accident resulting in death or serious bodily injury was intoxicated and the alcohol content in his body was higher than 1 per mille.

The court may refrain from ordering the forfeiture of the vehicle only in cases justified by special circumstances.
