He was asked about the “remains of a military facility” found in the vicinity of Bydgoszcz at the end of April.
At the end of April, a group of services – including the police, army, sapper patrol and fire brigade – carried out operations in the forest in the village of Zamość near Bydgoszcz, securing the area there. A spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk told TVN24 that the Military Affairs Department of this prosecutor’s office had launched an investigation into the “remains of a military facility” discovered in the vicinity of Bydgoszcz.

Shortly afterwards, on April 28, Lieutenant General Tomasz Piotrowski, operational commander of the types of armed forces, provided more details at the conference. He reported, among other things, that “intensive investigations, checks, intensive dialogue between various types of institutions are underway, where this equipment could have come from, what is its origin”.
He stressed that “there was no explosion in this place, there was no explosion.” – No people died there, there was no injury (nobody – editor’s note) – he added. He also said that “certain hypotheses have been created and we have certain threads that could be linked to this event in Zamość near Bydgoszcz.”

Bartosz Kownacki, MP of the Law and Justice Party, deputy chairman of the parliamentary national defense committee, spoke on Friday about the “remains of a military facility” found in the program “Rozmowy Dnia” on Polish Radio PiK.
“It’s definitely an isolated incident,” he said. – These things happen. (…) It is necessary to investigate why this happened. Was it an attempt by the Russian side to test our air defense systems and our reaction to such a situation in general – because this missile flew several hundred kilometers – or was it a Russian mistake – he said.
Kownacki said that “Russian equipment is not particularly modern, it is not particularly efficient” and “just one of the rockets could break off.” – That may be the case. These are the two basic versions that should be taken into account – said the deputy head of the defense committee.
Law and Justice MP: the object was tracked through the territory of Poland
The PiS MP also reported that this object “was tracked across Polish territory and some claimed that it should have been shot down immediately.” – Let me remind you that we are not at war and such actions are not taken, because it can be a different type of object. You have to observe it first, maybe sometimes get physically close to it – he said.
– If it was, for example, a lost plane whose transmitter broke down for some reason and the plane was shot down by mistake, then there would be a huge drama and huge consequences. So it’s not done that way,’ he argued on Radio PiK.
– This is not done within a dozen or so minutes, if there is no threat to the security of the state. It is a different matter if we have a state of war (…), would we suppose that it is an armed missile that is about to hit some strategic target. These are completely different situations, he continued. He admitted that he “suspects that the situation was under control at some point”.
The PiS MP indicated that the Polish services should be allowed to work on the case. – Also in order not to give too much information to the Russian side, because undoubtedly – regardless of whether it was intentional or not – the Russians are very carefully analyzing everything that we have been doing since the missile entered Polish space air defense, what were the diplomatic reactions, what were the military reactions, how Polish systems work, how the Polish prosecutor’s office and Polish services work today – continued Kownacki.
– They are certainly very interested in this and in such situations it is better to have more silence than media discussion, which can also be used and fueled by the Russian services, which are excellent in this “soft” aggression, in such “soft” propaganda activity – he said.
– Let this matter be fully clarified, (in order to assess – editor’s note) why this object was on Polish territory, whose it was, what services reacted to it – stressed Kownacki.
