Seeing the car without the lights on, they wanted to stop it for inspection – the driver, however, started to run away. Police officers from Podlasie chased a Daewoo for several kilometers, behind the wheel of which sat – as it turned out – an 11-year-old. After stopping, he explained that during a bicycle ride he saw an empty vehicle with the keys inside and decided to ride it.
Police officers noticed on the road between Bielsk Podlaski and Dubiażyn (Podlaskie Voivodeship) a personal Daewoo without the lights on. When they looked closer, they saw a young driver behind the wheel. His young age alarmed the uniformed officers. The officers instructed the driver to stop, but he ignored them.

– At some point, the car drove into the city. The driver still did not react to signals to stop and ran away from the policemen, and his driving posed a threat not only to other drivers, but also to pedestrians. After driving about five kilometers, the car entered the pasture and stopped there – reports the press officer of the Bielsko police, Commissioner Agnieszka Dąbrowska.

After stopping at a pasture, the boy ran out of the car and began to flee on foot. But the uniforms were faster. It turned out that the fugitive was only 11 years old.

– A resident of the Bielsk Podlaski commune said in an interview with the police that he was on a bicycle ride and saw a car with keys inside in the forest. Its owner was at forestry work at the time. The teenager did not know who the car belonged to. However, it didn’t stop him from taking the car and going for a ride – says Dąbrowska.

The 11-year-old explained to the police that he was running away out of fear of the consequences. An ambulance was called to the scene and the crew examined the boy – nothing happened to him. The teenager was then handed over to the family. His case will be handled by family court.
