The government signed an executive agreement with the Polish company WB Electronics for the supply of FlyEye drones for the Polish Army. – It is the fulfillment of the framework agreement, which covers a total of 400 sets, i.e. 1,600 drones – said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. For now, the army will receive seven sets, which include 28 drones.
On Wednesday, April 17, a contract was signed between the Polish government and the Polish company WB Electronics for the supply of drones for the Polish Army. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, said that “it is the fulfillment of the framework agreement, which covers 400 sets, i.e. 1,600 drones.” – Today is the first part, which already gives the feeling that this process is gaining momentum – said the head of the Ministry of National Defense.
– I am very happy about it, I am very proud that today we can implement the executive agreement for the purchase of 7 sets – 28 drones, for the needs of the Polish army – said Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, pointing out that this is only the first delivery of a larger order. – The Territorial Defense Forces will especially use them, they are prepared for this, they are equipped with good equipment, but they also have specific skills – he added.
Battle-proven drones
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the reconnaissance equipment contributed “to the most important experience that can be acquired for the arms industry, i.e. battlefield experience.”
– They are used today by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A lot of orders from this website go to WB Group. This is certainly experience that means that we have the most modern versions (…) They are constantly modified, supplemented with new experiences from the battlefield – said Kosiniak-Kamysz. – So, ladies and gentlemen, you can be sure that Poland is buying the best equipment, that the Polish Army is getting the best equipment in a state-of-the-art version that no one else uses yet – he emphasized.
The agreement signed on Wednesday concerns drones in version 3.6, which “will have the ability to implement experiences related to what happened and what is still happening in Ukraine.” The minister emphasized that this is “priceless knowledge” for the development of technology and, consequently, safety.
– Further contracts will be signed this year. In the coming years, all these sets, 400 sets, i.e. 1,600 drones, will be delivered to the Polish Army. Spreading it over months or years also has its advantages, because the technology will be moving forward during these months and we will still have the most modern version, said Kosiniak-Kamysz.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that “today we do not buy one version permanently.” The purchased drones are to be updated, modified and “raised to subsequent levels of functionality.”
– I would like to thank all those who made this agreement possible. First of all, I would like to thank taxpayers, all citizens of the Republic of Poland, because it is thanks to your taxes that it is possible to build a strong, modern army. We allocate four percent of GDP from our common taxes to the army, which is the highest (level of expenditure – ed.) among the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance, he noted.
