A chase on the streets of Gdynia. A 34-year-old man ran away from the police for five kilometers. He collided with a police car, but it didn’t stop him immediately. The policemen used weapons. The man did not have a driving license and the officers found drugs on him.

The incident took place on Sunday morning on the streets of Gdynia. The Volkswagen driver did not want to stop for a police check and started to run away.

– After five kilometers of pursuit, the fleeing car and a police car crashed at one of the main intersections in Gdynia. Then the driver continued to try to escape, posing a mortal threat to pedestrians because he hit the sidewalk where there were pedestrians, TVN24 reporter Marta Ulatowska reported on air.

No one was hurt in the collision. To prevent the man from escaping further, one of the policemen shot out the car’s tire. What happened on the street can be seen in the recording. A policeman and a policewoman ran to the red car and pulled the driver out of it. The man lying on the ground was handcuffed.

– After the arrest, drugs were found on him and it turned out that he did not have a driving license – said the press officer of the Gdynia police, Assistant Commissioner Jolanta Grunert.

The detained 34-year-old man was taken for a blood test to check the content of narcotics in his body.

– In case of use of weapons, investigation activities are carried out – a policewoman told PAP.

Grunert added that during the escape, the Volkswagen driver posed a real threat to the life and health of other road users. – It’s lucky that there was no tragedy – she emphasized.
